With the many delays in getting the COVID-19 vaccine roll-outs going, a higher chance of going into the third wave country wide has arisen. While some provinces have stated they are in the third wave, others have not declared this, however it is quite unavoidable at this stage.
Looking at the numbers, it is quite frightening to see that:
- New cases have increased by 36%
- The positive test rate has increased by 7.2%
- A rise in hospitalisations of 10%
- Deaths in the past week have spiked by 47%
The prospect of a hard lockdown has been dismissed by Health Minister Zwelini Mkhize, however there is still the possibility of a few more limitations coming into play to combat the spread of the virus.
