South African President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation on the 11th July 2021 to give COVID-19 updates and adjust level 4 with giving a bit more back.
The updated restrictions include the below as of the 11th July 2021:
- Curfew will remain be from 21h00 to 04h00.
- Travel in and out of Gauteng will remain to ONLY be permitted for work, transport of goods, funerals or to return home.
- Employers should allow employees to work from home unless it is absolutely necessary for them to perform work on-site.
- All schools to be closed from 30th June 2021 to start their winter breaks early.
- Funerals are restricted to 50 people or where a venue is small, 50% of its capacity with a 2 hour service limit and no night vigils or post funeral gatherings permitted.
- No after funeral tears or night vigils permitted.
- Gatherings of any kind, except for funerals, are no longer permitted.
- Health protocols must be observed at gatherings including the 1.5 m distance between people.
- Alcohol sales for onsite or offsite consumption are now not permitted.
- Restaurant and Gyms are permitted to open, with still no alcohol being sold from establishments.
Keep wearing your mask, sanitise and keep socially distant from those around you in order to take South Africa out of the third wave and keep the numbers decreasing thereafter.
