The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NCID) has confirmed South Africa has now officially entered its Third Wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Gauteng reported 5,595 new cases on 10th June 2021 and continues to increase, Gauteng also accounts for 61% of the total cases reported in SA on this day.

Provincial Numbers
Cases are rising rapidly in all provinces of South Africa and not just in Gauteng which is the current epicentre of the spread of the virus.
• Western Cape cases up +51%
• KwaZulu Natal up +87%
• Eastern Cape up +49%
• Limpopo up +43%

Tests Conducted
The total number of Laboratory-confirmed cases is now at 1 722 086, with 9 949 new COVID-19 cases being reported in South Africa on the 10th June 2021, this being a 15.7% positivity testing rate.

Hospital Admissions and Deaths
Hospital Admissions have increased by 844 in the past 24-hours with 127 additional in-hospital deaths reported.
