Unchartered territory is being entered as COVID-19 numbers are about to exceed previous peaks and will continue to rise. We do not know how high this peak will get, but with the collaboration of all citizens we can flatten the curve once more as has been proven in the past.
Gauteng Updated numbers as of 20th June 2021:
• 8640 new cases = highest ever recorded
• 7-day average at 6941 = 31% higher than previous peak
• 5218 patients currently in hospital
• 1105 in ICU; 538 ventilated
• 62 deaths per day over past week
